Selecting the best lens for your security camera is an important aspect of a video surveillance system that assures sufficient area is covered while still maintaining adequate detail of the subject. If you choose a wide angle lens (say 3.6 mm) you'll get a wide coverage area but if your subjects are some distance away you might not get enough magnification for detail. If you choose a more powerful focal length (say 16 mm) you'll get more magnification but you'll have a narrower field of view. So how do you choose the best focal length lens for your security camera?
