Forty-six ‘Metal Mickey’ speed domes will be installed at Heathrow’s terminal five as part of a £70m security and telecommunications network at the airport.
The contract marks an extension of Forward Vision’s earlier work at Heathrow which saw 20 Mickeys installed in a key road tunnel. Offering operators 18x optical zoom, they have been delivering round-the-clock surveillance since 2002.
NTL Business will integrate Forward Vision’s Mic1-400 cameras with the terminal’s new IP-based security and data hub.
NTL’s Tim Woodward said, "Following the original installation, Forward Vision MIC1-400s were specified again because they were the best cameras available for the job".
Forward Vision’s managing director, Peter Beare, said the cameras have proved their durability in some of the world’s most demanding locations. Machined from a solid block of 6mm aluminium or stainless steel, their casings are rated to IP68.
