Honeywell has released a new ultra wide dynamic camera designed to avoid some of the problems experienced by cameras in high-contrast and brightly back-lit environments.
Many surveillance cameras struggle to distinguish detail in these situations, but Honeywell claims its HCU484X Ultra Wide Dynamic Camera provides highly-detailed images regardless of the light level.
The camera’s wide dynamic range image management feature provides 102 – 120dB of range for image capture, which is said to allow the camera to provide a complete colour exposure of scenes.
The HCU484X camera comes with seven preset functions and is suitable for use near cash machines, loading bays or lobbies. Honeywell said users will be able to dictate whether the camera focuses on a whole scene, specific aspects of it, or areas of glare like number plates.
For remote maintenance, the camera can also be accessed using a keyboard or DVR over a RS485 network.
Additional features include resolution controls, colour saturation and sharpness adjustment and a day/night set-up mode that should enable the camera to send a black and white image in low light conditions - reducing noise and hard drive demands.
