There are so many different motion detectors in the market because actually different kinds of detector have their only specific applications.
Beam detector is designed for so-called perimeter defense ( can be classified as exterior defense ) mostly while PIR motion detector mostly a kind of interior defense ( that use mostly indoor for a relatively small protected area ).
