The simplest method for testing co-axial cable is use a multimeter and test for an open circuit between the core and screen when the cable is open at both ends, and 75 ohm when one is terminated.

The equipment at both ends of the cable must have a termination impedance of 75 ohms. Otherwise, signal loss may be apparent. Ghosting, picture roll and loss of telemetry signal may occur.
